In 1892, it started off as a small grocery store and has now grown to 415 sites throughout the globe. Stop & Shop has been a fully owned subsidiary of the Dutch supermarket chain Ahold since 1995. From 2004 to 2011, Stop & Shop and its sister firm Giant-Landover were a part of the Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover division.
